Spencer is a main character on the Netflix original horror series, The Midnight Club. He is portrayed by William Chris Sumpter.
After being diagnosed with HIV, Spencer is forced to come out to his conservative family, resulting in his parents kicking him out of the house. Fortunately, through a friend, Spencer is invited to Brightcliffe Hospice by Mark. Despite all he's been through, Spencer is a vibrant member of the group and always the life of the party.
Biography[]
Spencer was brought up in a deeply religious, church-going family. His mother, in particular, is excessively pious, and cannot bear the fact that Spenser is gay. Throughout most of his childhood, Spenser was very involved in church. At some point in adolescence, Spence had a homosexual relationship with a man with AIDS. Spence loved this man deeply and mourns his passing. His lover transmitted AIDS to Spence.
After being diagnosed with AIDS, Spence is forced to admit his sexuality to them and is kicked out of their house. Fortunately, Mark, a nurse practitioner at Bright Club, learns about Spencer's situation through a friend and arranges for him to stay there.
Only Spence's father visits him at Brightcliffe.
